Verizon Wireless wants to give out your information DON'T LET THEM - OPT OUT - JUST DO IT!
Call 1-800-333-9956 from any phone (you don't have to call from your mobile) and answer the questions from the automated response system and then *cough* confirm that you really want to opt out. [Advertisment] [/Advertisment]
Here's the most recent service addendum I've received from our friends at Verizon. Customer Proprietary Network Information Notice Your privacy is important to us.
Verizon Wireless and it's affiliates (the "Verizon Companies") provide services to you. In doing so, we may each collect certain information that is made available to us solely by virtue of our relationship with you, such as quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location and amount of use of the telecommunications services you purchase. This information and related billing information is known as Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI). The Federal Communications Commission and other regulators require the Verizon Companies to protect your CPNI.
In order to better serve your communications needs and to identify, offer and provide products and services to meet your requirements, we need your permission to share this information among our affiliates, agents and parent companies (including Vodafone) and their subsidiaries. The protection of your information is important to us, and the Verizon Companies acknowledge that you have a right, and we have a duty, under federal and state law to protect the confidentialities of your CPNI.
You have a right to keep your CPNI private by "opting out." Unless you provide us with notice that you wish to opt out within 30 days of receiving this letter, we will assume that you give the Verizon companies the right to share your CPNI with the authorized companies described above. You may opt out by calling us at 1-800-333-9956 and following the recommended directions.
TTY users can opt out by first dialing a telecommunications relay service (TRS) center via 711 in order to contact a TRS Communications Assistant (CA). Then, simply ask the CA to dial 1-800-333-9956 and notify us that you wish to opt out.
Please be advised that if you do not opt out, your consent will remain valid until we receive your notice withdrawing it. If you wish to withdraw your consent at any time, you may do so by calling us at 1-800-333-9956.
Furthermore, note that opting out will not affect the status of the services you currently have with the Verizon Companies. In addition, we can disclose your CPNI to comply with any laws, court order or subpoena, or to provide services to you pursuant to your Customer Agreement.
For more information, please refer to Frequently Asked Questions on the next page. Your privacy is important to us. Customer Proprietary Network Information Frequently Asked Questions Q1. What is CPNI
A. Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) is information created by virtue of the relationship between a carrier and a customer including the quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location, and amount of use of a customer's telecommunications services purchased (including specific calls a customer makes and receives) and related local and toll billing information. It does not include information such as one's name, address or telephone number. Q2. Why does Versizon Wireless need my consent?
A. Verizon Wireless needs to share your CPNI with our affiliates, agents and parent companies in order to better offer and provide you the full range of Verizon Companies' communications-related products and services. The Federal Communications Commission requires that we obtain your consent to do so. Q3. If I give my consent, what can Verizon Wireless do with my information?
A. With your consent, Verizon Wireless will be able to share your CPNI with our affiliates, agents and parent companies. Sharing such information will enable us to collaborate on how to better serve your telecommunications needs. Q4. Can I change my mind about giving consent?
A. A customer has the right at any time to withdraw their previously-given permission to share CPNI by notifying Verizon Wireless at 1-800-333-9956 Q5. How am I affected if I decide not to provide my consent?
A. The inability to share your CPNI may make it more difficult for Verizon Wireless to work with our affiliates to offer you new communications-related products and services in the future. However, your decision to disallow the sharing of CPNI will not affect the services that you currently obtain from the Verizon Companies. [Advertisment] [/Advertisment] | |
In Main Category Your dog's poo |
06-20-2007 01:04 PM | This morning, I went to Dunkin Donuts to get a coffee, came back, went upstairs and turned on the tv and sat down on the couch (I worked from home in the morning) anyway, as I'm sitting there, I notice a smell, a nasty smell, a poopy smell, i'm like where is that coming from, I look at my shoe and I see... it's coming from me... I jump up and look and see the trail of poop across the living room carpet and my wife's Persian rug!
I'm like "crap!!!"..
I take off my shoes and throw them outside and see that it's tracked all through the house... I get paper towels, water and some sort of carpet cleaner and start to clean, then I remember I've got a carpet cleaning machine, one that spits soapy water out and sucks it back in so I grab that and set it all up, and work rigorously to get the smelly poo out of the carpet, cleaning out the nozzle every so often. It took me forever to get the carpets clean, then the kitchen floor clean and the back hall, stairs, porch, porch stairs and then I see where it came from, right on the lawn, close to the back stairs a big pile of dog poo.
Man, I was even more pissed because I thought it came from the coffee shop I got my coffee, but no, it was right in my yard, so after the clean up I made a nice big sign and posted it on the front of the driveway: PLEASE!
KEEP YOUR DOG OUT OF MY YARD
I'M TIRED OF STEPPING IN IT'S "PRESENTS"
Let's see if someone does something to that sign...
the next thing I'll post is something like: I'M WATCHING YOU
then I'M TAZING YOU...
damn it!

In Bitching About Corporate Microsoft inks Cambridge deal |
04-09-2007 11:22 AM | from: the boston herald
By Scott Van Voorhis
Boston Herald Business Reporter
Thursday, April 5, 2007 - Updated: 04:43 PM EST Microsoft has inked a deal that will give the software giant its first major presence in Cambridge as hiring by high-tech firms heats up.
The Redmond, Wash.-based software giant, which has recently acquired a number of local companies, will lease 45,000 square feet of space in One Memorial Drive, a high-rise along the Charles River near MIT, state economic development officials confirmed.
The move is the first in what is expected to be a major expansion by Microsoft in the Boston area. To fill its new Cambridge office, which is large enough for 150 engineers and researchers, Microsoft will move 90 workers from a software firm it acquired in Boston.
Microsoft plans to hire another 30 engineers, with possibly more to follow. The lease is the first big move by Microsoft into tech rich Cambridge, also home to one-time Harvard dropout Bill Gates’ alma mater.
Microsoft is just one of a number of tech firms scouting for offices and research space in Cambridge, which is considered one of the nation’s tech meccas.
Google has been searching for more than 100,000 square feet of space in Cambridge as it also looks to ramp up hiring in the Boston area.
In filling its Cambridge office, Microsoft will move out of a much smaller, 16,000-square-foot location in Boston it took on after acquiring SoftGrid. Microsoft also has an office in Waltham.
Separately, Microsoft has announced plans to keep Ray Ozzie’s recently acquired Groove Networks - and its 200 workers - in Beverly.
