I am a Persian woman living in the US. Now that I'm in my 30's I'm becoming more aware of injustices that are being done in the name of God and Religion to my people -- especially Students.
Last week in Tehran, a group of students in peaceful demonstration to free their unjustly prisoned classmates, were imprisoned themselves for nothing more than wanting freedom (pictures of some of these students on the left). These young people in Iran represent the new generation and, unlike previous, are not passive, they feel the need to speak out against their fascist government and not just turn their heads at injustice.
The fascist mullah (clergy) who run the government in Iran have been shaken to the core by the voices of the new generation. The blood of these young people are dripping from their hand and they know their time is coming to an end soon.
One of the most well known faces of this generation is Ahmad Batebi. In this picture he is showing the bloody t-shirt of his friend who was beaten by the riot police. The fascist government of Iran gave him the death penalty at first but then, because of the public's outrage and international support, they reduced his sentence to 10 years in prison.
I left Iran when I was 15, I don't know any of the students, but I feel their pain and sorrow, but I also feel students hope for a new Iran, a free Iran.
If you want to help the students with their fight for freedom, email your name to petition_18tir@yahoo.com.
