There are different types of engineering in the Navy.
The SeaBees (Construction Battalions) have many rates available. They work on construction projects, all land based.
Engineers in the Navy are shipboard, operating and maintaining propulsion and auxilliary equipment. That will get you a basic understanding of engineering principles.
I was an engineer (machinist mate) for five years active duty and over fourteen years in the reserves. I also have a couple of friends who were ship engineers, one of whom is studying civil engineering in college right now. |
