| | Junior Member | Are bouts of anger normal? I've been getting them several times a day.? At work I feel I'm underpaid and underlooked. I always try to go above and beyond my duties so that I'm recognized when it's time for a raise. But I feel like the upper management overlooks the things I do for them.
Several times a day, when I'm at work, I feel incredible bouts of anger, almost rage and then it quickly subsides. Is this normal?
BTW: I have been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, and panic attacks, but nothing else.
Sorry Willow, but I dont take meds anymore. I'd rather feel paniced every once in a while, than to feel emotionally dead. I quit taking them 3 years ago, and won't ever take them again. |

| | Junior Member | Are bouts of anger normal? I've been getting them several times a day.? It sounds normal to me. Most people feel the same way about their jobs, don't worry! To de-stress yourself, start thinking about what you can do to take your mind off of work. It might be wearing earphones and listening to the radio on the way to work if you commute on public transport, taking more exercise to clear your mind (going for a walk in the park during lunch), reading a new book in your leisure time, etc. Try to enjoy your life more. |

| | Junior Member | Are bouts of anger normal? I've been getting them several times a day.? it's normal enough to me. you're aloud to get angry, you know! especially when your reasons are legit.
make sure you're getting enough sleep and consuming enough water, sugar and fiber. they are crucial to mood. it could be something chemical in your body but in my opinion i think you're just effing frustrated and fed up with the system.
consider investing in a punching bag. seriously. after a hard day i lock myself in the garage and just beat the hell out of it, afterwards i feel just fine. people find that strange because i'm quite small and have these girly white hands but i assure you - anyone can get really pissed, and you have a right to. everyone does. our society is practically run by machines and feeling insignificant is nearly par for the course these days.
so get mad, then deal with it.
don't bottle your anger - take it out and kill it.
good luck. <3 |

| | Junior Member | Are bouts of anger normal? I've been getting them several times a day.? Sounds like it's time to revisit your psychiatrist and speak about your recent changes. No these are not normal, especially when you are feeling them in "incredible bouts of anger, almost rage."
With your current diagnosis, and changes at work, it may be a good idea to ease up a bit on yourself and try not to go above and beyond your duties. It seems this is just adding stress to your already fight-flight responses you have built in because of anxiety and panic disorders.
Your psychiatrist can adjust your meds to control these bursts in your mood. Until then, I'd suggest giving yourself as much of a break as you can - relaxing, doing job as expected, exercising to relieve built up stress and lots of good sleep. |

| | Junior Member | Are bouts of anger normal? I've been getting them several times a day.? Being angry for good reasons, causes, is an okay thing. Those are causes such as rallying for another when they are oppressed, or when society has gone terribly wrong.
Being angry because you feel insulted or ignored, is not good. It harms you, most of all, and does nothing to the other person.
Why not go on the offensive and ask management what you can do to earn a raise (use your own words/tactic) or how can you improve in the future? Even if you feel you are doing all you can, at least you will have management's ear and realization that you want more.
Your life might be cluttered right now, or otherwise overwhelming. It's rarely just one thing, though work is a biggie. See what other changes for good you can make in your life, take in a movie or something you enjoy, reward yourself for hard work, even if no one else does.! |
