What anime fits this bill best?

I like romantic action/adventure anime. One where the romance is subtle but revealed later in the series. I like Kenichi, Naruto, and Vendread. One's where they kiss/"live happily ever after" are good, but can't just be pure romance. Mostly action, like bleach, or tokko. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I'd try Inuyasha if I were you. The romance story appealed to me when I used to watch it. Most of the episodes were intense and almost always had some type of action.

Seto No Hanayome is very funny, has great action (T2 Parody is awesome) and revolves around the marriage of 2 high school kids.

umm, One Piece I guess, it doesn't have much romance though, I believe it doesn't have it at all, it's all about action/comedy/adventure!

i have watched some of the animes that you mentioned so i think that you might like full metal panic. its hilarious and has action and some romance.
summary:
its about this guy named sosuke who is a sargeant and is assigned to protect a vip named kaname. kaname is thought to be one of the 'whispered' who can control black technology. however sosuke has no clue on how to fit into normal high school life since he grew up on the battlefield. while trying to protect her he causes a lot of chaos and trouble for her instead. examples of these troubles would be blowing up her locker, tackling her teacher, pulling a gun on her classmates, taking apart her teachers car for bomb inspections, and a lot more! this causes kaname to lose her cool and beat him with her wrestling moves or with her fan. but in the end sosuke comes to the rescue when kaname gets captured.there are also battles with huge mechas and stuff. one of my favorite scenes is when sosuke explains how he used a condom as a water container on the battlefield!
