Is the Patriots potential 19-0 season a direct result of the "steroid era" of sports?
I haven't been alive nor have i researched a time line of drug use in professional sports, but supposedly now more than ever, players are drugging up so much that some refer to all these professional sport records as being broken in the steroid era.
I dont think I have all my facts straight for this demonstration but i think last season, Shawne Merriman of the San Diego Chargers was suspended for using illegal substances. At the end of the season, he was being considered for defensive player of the year. This is just to show how rampant the use of steroids is in the nfl.
So my main question, do you think going 19-0 is from a combination of a talented team playing untalented teams, or do you think they may have gotten some help from mr. syringe? If you have any other opinions please air them out as well
I probably shouldnt have used the word steroid. "Steroid Era" refers to more than just anabolic steroids, it refers to human growth hormone (HGH) and any other performance enhancing drugs
Also, i am not trying to deny that the Patriots have a talented team, I am simply imposing the question, Where is the line between talent and cheating? (i dont mean cheating as in taping the other team i mean cheating as in artificial strength from drugs) i think the line is shrinking everyday.
