How to start a garden inside the house?

I would like some details on the following:

How do you start a small garden inside the house
- What do you need
Whats good to grow
-What kind of flowers
-What kind of herbs
Any tricks to get them to grown nicely

google "how to grow weed indoors". that should do it, ya crazy stoner. basically you need enough soil: usually 12" by 12", enough light, and proper ventilation. those are just the essentials however, supplemental ingredients for the soil help tremendously.

The inside of a house is not the right environment to grow most flowers and herbs as they need an all round light exsposuer.

Where as house plants are more of the forest or jungle type plants that can stand a lower light level

It is difficult to grow herbs indoors unless you have a light that is hung over the area just for the plants. The aero grow garden works well but it is a little expensive. You just need enough light and ventilation. Most florescent lights are enough if kept within a foot or so above the plants.
