Can I shoot squirrels without trouble?

What if you miss and put somenes lights out [blind them]? This is a very dangerous thing to do in populated areas like in the city.

When I lived outside of New Orleans I used to get a cooler of beer and my .375 magnum (brown bear rifle) and sit on my second floor deck and shoot the nutria as they came out of the canal and into my yard. What a blast. They pretty much exploded so there was little mess.

I'd use a .22 rifle. Make a silencer using a 1 liter pop bottle and blast away.

My county animal control office will loan you squirrel traps. See if your parish offers the same.
Trap them, bring them out to the woods or swamp, let them go and THEN hunt them.
Shooting them back at the Ponderosa will get you into trouble likely, if you live in town.

(Being Louisiana boy myself, I see we have a few represented here as well. Down on the bayou, it's a crime to NOT kill and eat a wild animal when you come across one.....)

I agree with what JD said. People around you might frown upon you killing them. The best solution is ti relocate them elsewhere.

i'm a louisiana boy myself as well as an avid squirrel hunter.
My property consists of around 90 pecan trees so I know about them being a pest. I'm a firm believer in not wasting game so if you have no intentions of eating them then try and relocate them so today's youth can enjoy their huntin experiences like many of us has in the past. Oh and to clarify for you about using wrong calibers. You can harvest just about any animal with any caliber if you know where to place the shot. Good Luck with the tree rats.
