help with a game and operating system?

hi my problem is with grand theft auto san amdreas for the pc. whenever i click the .exe file it says : gta_sa.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. i have tried nocd patches but still nothing. i think it may be because i have windows xp home sp3. and yes i havent made a mistake it is sp3 somebody who i know owns a business and he got it shipped early by microsoft. should i change to xp pro sp2 and if so will i then be able to play the game
system:
xp home sp3
amd athlon xp 3000+ 2.16ghz
1.5gigs ram
320gb hadd
fx5600 256 mb graphics card

dude for playing GTA SA you need around 512 MB RAM (minimum)

moreover get a genuine copy of the game not the pirated one which have no radio station in it

also pls switch back to sp2 if you have 512+ RAM

also install directx and .net framework

yes yes sp 3 is out already it was released on 29 april
does your machine actually conform to the minimum specs of gta 3.7
reinstall gta 3.7 dont bother with no cd patches
instal actual rockstar patches if there are any
if it stil doesnt work it might be sp3
sp3 is still extremly new so it might break compatibility with a 4 year old game
doubt it but its worth a shot
update your drivers and direct x .net framework etc

First off, windows SP3 wouldnt have anything that is going to affect your game. It mainly has all previous updates prior to completed development of SP3 including SP2 and also some updates to use XP with server 2008. Is this a legit game? If so, might want to uninstall it and try to shut down anything loading on startup before you install it again. To do this, just go to start>run>type msconfig
Uncheck where it says load startup items, hot Ok and reboot.

if it isnt a legit game sorry cant help ya on that one.
