if i were to get kicked out of my private rented hous, how would the council help? - u-Assist Forums

theres me, my partner and my 10 month old here in a two bedroom house and also 1 dog, two cats and two birds, what would happen if my landlord gave me a month to move out and we both not working so cant buy.. would they put us into another house or into some kind of shelter? i live in ipswich, anyone no please help xxx

they would send you to the bottom of the housing list, while they give all the available homes to asylem seekers.

you need to get a letter for your land lord take it to the council they do have to house you as you have children and you haven't made yourself homeless

are you an asylum seeker ? no ? then they would give you bugger all in the way of help !!!

With my local council they will either provide the deposit for another private rent or put you in B&B to wait for a house. If you go into B&B you'd have to find somewhere else for your animals.

if u lose your private rented accommodation through no fault of your own . e g you applied for housing benefit to meet the cost of renting it .and your landlord would not except housing benefit as payment . the council would see u as homeless through no fault of your own if u have a contract with your land lord . and he agreed to let the property for a specific lenght of time to you and u lost your job then he would still have to honour the contract he agreed with u at the beginning of your ten ency ..seek advise from your local citizens advise their number is in the directory .the council would have to help u if u are not intentionally homeless as u would be priority because of your 2 year old .hope this helps get advise to make sure good luck.

You would need to make a application as homeless to your local authority

They will provide temp accomodation whilst they investigate your claim. (You will be prioritised because of the child)

eg If you are evicted from present accomodation because of rent arrears then you will be classed as intentionally homeless and the council do not have to provide you with a home

If you have not made yourself intentionally homeless then you will be offered a housing association/council house
