Why do people keep saying that having faith is religious based?

faith /fe??/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[feyth] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
?noun 1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability.
2. belief that is not based on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact.

Yes some of the definitions of faith are religious based, but the first 2 definitions of faith clearly are not, in fact the ex refers directly to science

this is from dictionary.com

I have seen this statement several times from people, mostly when talking about evolution and having faith in a theory.
yes I know my question is grammatically off, lol, I am getting tired and need to go to bed soon!

You can have faith in any thing, and if you directed your faith to religion you will be religious

Why do people keep saying that having faith is religious based?

Murphy's Law is gravity based - What goes up must come down, agree or not?

Successful results in say the baking of a cake in recipe prooven based, agree or not?

If anybody will have to have faith it must be proved by case law, point of reference and for a Christian it is the Bible.

Faith over rides logic always remember that.

What do you believe in? If you can tell me, give my your point of reference.
Take Care

Why do people keep saying that having faith is religious based?

Websters dictionary> Faith > 1. Belief without evidence. 2.Confidence; trust. 3. Belief in God, the Bible., etc.
Religion is faith based. See how many different meanings you can get just by reading different dictionaries.
So, that is just one more thing that is each persons choice as to which definition they use for their faith.
But I have to say, that none of the definitions ( dictionary.com or Websters) look like to me that they refer directly to science.
so, once again it is to each person interpretation of the meaning.

Do you believe? Yes then you have FAITH. You could have faith in a philosphy at the same time not be part of a religion. But a religion rightly followed guides us towards the correct path, so having belief, faith and religion wont be too bad.
