HELP science!!!!!?

Suppose you are given the two liquids and told that one is a compound and the other is a mixture. How might you determine which was which? Describe one method you could use.

heterogenous mixture and homogeneous mixture, look up both definitions in your science book or even google it. as well as a definition for compound which will ultimately lead you to the correct answer.

The mixture should settle out, so by letting the two liquids sit for several hours you should be able to tell the difference.

I presume that the mixture is a solution of one liquid in another, which will not separate out (such as alcohol in water). The only way I could think of telling is to determine whether the two liquids separate out by fractiuonal distillation (ie, if they have different boiling points), or by gradually lowering the temperature to see if the liquid with the highest melting point freezes out first.
