A collision between two engines and 4 empty freight cars raises concerns as there is some question of how they happened to collide on an Estill County track today near the Kentucky river causing a fiery explosion.
Thankfully no one was hurt in this incident but 20 homes and 2 businesses were evacuated.
Police originally said that the two engines were moved to stop the runaway freight cars but CSX officials denied that report saying that would not be their standard procedure.
According to Kentucky State Police and CSX officials the cars started rolling at the community of Patio just Southeast of Winchester rolling about 20 miles on a mostly downhill decent in the Eastern Kentucky foothills until colliding just North of Irvine, KY.
