I will actually be here for July 4th, but....?

For the past 5 years, I have not been in the United States to celebrate 4th of July. This year, I actually will be here though, but I'm not quite sure what to do. My boyfriend of over a year invited me to a pool party, but he said that it was alright for me to do other things if I wanted to. There is a part of me that wants to hang out with my best friend on Independence Day, since I've never been here to celebrate it with her. (Obviously, the same goes with my boyfriend) Quite frankly though, she doesn't seem all that interested in making plans with me. This will be the only year in High School that I will be in America for the 4th of July. My question is: Should I be with my boyfriend on 4th of July or my best friend?

look at it this way. your boyfriend already invited you to a party. she hasn't asked you to hang out or anything right? so i would go hang out with your boyfriend. have a good july 4th! good luck!

You simply need to speak with both your friend & boyfriend...mentioning you would like to share the holiday in some way with BOTH! Possibly your friend may be included at the pool party that your boyfriend wants you to attend with him. She may even meet some new people who will become her friend... Thats the best approach...However, if your girlfriend has plans & is obvious not including you, then so be it, let her go with her plans & then you happily join your boyfriend with the pool-party invite~ also an opportunity for you to meet new friends!
