Why do we celebrate July 4th? Hear me out...?

Out of 56 delegates only John Hancock had signed the Declaration of Independence as of July 4th, 1776. Moreover, I could declare myself the Pope it really wouldn't mean anything unless I was recognized as such. Why don't we instead celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783 when the Revolutionary War formally ended in the sense that our chief enemy recognized our sovereignty?

So the document was finalized as of the 4th, 1776. Thats the day then. If it hadn't been finalized till August 24 thats what we would celebrate. That was our declaration and the Treaty of Paris be d****d.

We don't celebrate July 4th as when we got our independence, it was when we claimed our independence, and actually, John Hancock and Charles Thompson were the only two to sign the D of I, but they signed it July 2nd when congress completed it, but congress had not yet passed it, then on July 4th, the D od I was passed through congress and was sent to all the states and military officers, but John Adams was the only one to think they would celebrate the completion of the document, no member of Congress thought about commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence until July 3 of 1777 which was one day late, so the real celebration took place the next day, July 4th

So really we are celebrating what took place July 2nd when the D of I was finished and signed by the presiding officer (John Hancock) and the secretary of congress(Charles Thompson), the rest of congress signed it on July 4th but that was not the important event, July 2nd was the important event.

And we celebrate July 4th instead of Sep. 3rd 1783 because the events in July 1776 commemorates the battles and difficulties that we would face in the years to come to finally claim our independance.

Are you stupid Andy or just pretending to be. The colonists where declaring their Independence from England They were the oppressing force. No other country was as big a threat to our way of life back then. The French are, were and will always be frog weenies.
