Why are the real advocates of their Party's platform least likely to win?

Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, I have read their voting records and beliefs..they are the only ones who have a demonstrated record of voting their beliefs. So why is the main stream media not pointing this out?

The party platform is usually a tad more extreme to satisfy the party base. It's rare that a national candidate who wins actually supports all parts of the platform. Reagan was likely the most recent to do that.

While they may be true to their convictions, their convictions are out of step with the convictions of the rest of America. The only way for such men to be elected is to either change their convictions or convince enough of the rest of America to believe in them, too.
